# Billing

All clients are subscribed to the PAYG (pay-as-you-go) billing plan. Edge Cloud resources are charged per minute for the time they are in use; current rates are listed on the [pricing page](https://gcore.com/pricing/cloud).

<Warning>
  To start using Edge Cloud services, add at least €4/\$4 to the account balance. To pay monthly, [contact support](https://gcore.com/contact-us).
</Warning>

Consumption for Cloud PAYG tariffs is collected approximately every five minutes. When accrued expenses reach the 4 EUR/USD threshold, the system deducts this amount from the existing balance. If the balance has insufficient funds, the system charges the amount from the added payment method. After a successful payment, resource usage continues until expenses reach the 4 EUR/USD threshold again, as described in [Billing overview](/account-settings/billing/overview).

If payment fails from both the Gcore balance and the added payment method, Edge Cloud services are suspended. Retention periods after suspension vary by product — Virtual Machines, Volumes, and Bare Metal servers are deleted after 48 hours, while Managed Kubernetes, Function as a Service, Container as a Service, and GPU SPOT Clusters are deleted immediately, as documented in [Data deletion](/account-settings/billing/data-deletion).

To avoid service suspension and maintain uninterrupted access to Cloud resources, [top up](/account-settings/billing/payments#top-up) the account balance in advance.

Billing rules differ by resource type:

Virtual Machines are charged from the moment of creation until they are completely stopped. Volumes, snapshots, IP addresses (floating IP, virtual IP, and reserved IP address), images, and the Windows license are charged separately. Outgoing traffic is free.

Volumes, IP addresses (floating IP, virtual IP, and reserved IP address), images, and snapshots are charged from the moment of creation until deletion, regardless of whether the Virtual Machine is running.

Bare Metal servers and AI IPUs and GPUs are charged from the moment of creation until deletion, regardless of whether the server is running. IP addresses (floating IP, virtual IP, and reserved IP address), images, the Windows license, and outgoing traffic for Bare Metal are charged separately. AI GPU and IPU rates follow the [Edge AI billing](/edge-ai/billing) schedule.

Managed Logging is charged based on the volume of stored logs.

Function as a Service is charged for the compute resources used to execute the function.
